Wedding Tiara – To Survive or Not To Survive – That is the Question
The Fate Of The Wedding Tiara (and a Large Chunk of the Bridal Industry Profits) Is In Kate Middleton’s Hands
To tiara or not to tiara, this is the question which currently grips both Buckingham Palace and many wedding designers. Rumour has it that there are two distinct camps when it comes to Kates head wear. The older, more traditional Royals believe that it is essential for Kate to wear a tiara, while Kate and William are rather taken with the idea of flowers. You may be wondering why it actually makes any difference at all… But trust me, there are some precariously balance businesses, already suffering as people tighten their belts, who need to predict this right to stay in business.
For most brides their decisions are based on how they want to look, for Kate it is slightly different.
There are many jewellers and wedding designers who have based their season collections around the image of a princess. Since the announcement of the wedding of William and Kate there has been much speculation as to how it will look as many people will want something similar.
During the guessing process it didn’t particularly occur to anyone that there may not be a wedding tiara; after all Kate has got one of the most exclusive collections to choose from. The latest revelations that Kate may opt for flowers has caused the bridal industry to wonder what else they may have got wrong.
The problem of not knowing the details of Kates wedding choices means that it is very difficult for the bridal industry to be adequately prepared for the trends which will follow.
Of course there are always winners. If Kate actually does opt for flowers, then there will be florist and hairdressers who have already teamed together who will be seeing their bookings rocket. But on the other hand, there is a probably quite a big mark up on tiaras in bridal shops, and these purchases and hires may be cancelled, resulting in drops in profit which could actually put some already struggling businesses on the make or break line.
With all the austerity measures already in place in the UK there are many small businesses wondering how they will make it through the year. These businesses are looking to capitalise on any tends which appear, and Kate is currently the trend writer in the fashion and bridal world.
I suppose on of the big questions is whether or not Kate Middleton realises the impact which her decision about a wedding tiara will have on many individuals and businesses in the UK and across the world?
If Kate does decide to wear a tiara, here is the history which she will become a part of: Tiaras: Past and Present
